Tokyo: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his two-day visit to Japan with a powerful pitch to global investors, urging them to “Come make in India, make for the world.” Addressing the India-Japan Economic Forum, he showcased India as a powerhouse of talent and an emerging hub for manufacturing, technology, and innovation.

Japan is set to announce investments worth over ¥10 trillion (approx. $68 billion) in India, spanning defence, trade, science, and technology. Both nations are also exploring an economic security pact focused on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and critical minerals—sectors vital for the future global economy.

Highlighting the potential of collaboration, Modi said that combining Japanese precision and innovation with India’s scale and talent could drive a global technological revolution. The partnership, he stressed, can accelerate growth in areas like AI, biotechnology, space, and advanced manufacturing.

Modi’s summit talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba are expected to deepen cooperation within the QUAD framework and enhance regional security. Infrastructure development remains high on the agenda, with flagship projects such as the E10 Shinkansen bullet train symbolizing the growing partnership.

Warm Bond with the DiasporaDuring the visit, Modi also received a hearty welcome from the Indian diaspora in Tokyo. PM praised their contributions abroad while staying rooted in Indian culture, calling them a “living bridge” between the two nations.
