Thiruvananthapuram: In a strong intervention, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking a judicial probe into the death of real estate tycoon C.J. Roy, who died during an Income Tax search operation in Bengaluru on January 30.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, the Chief Minister said the circumstances surrounding Roy’s death have raised serious and disturbing questions about the manner in which the raid was conducted. He stressed that only an independent judicial inquiry can establish the facts and ensure accountability.
C.J. Roy, a prominent businessman with major investments across South India, reportedly collapsed while the Income Tax department was carrying out searches at his premises. The incident has sparked widespread public outrage and political debate, with calls growing for a transparent and impartial investigation.
In his letter, Pinarayi Vijayan urged the Centre to act decisively, stating that a judicial probe is necessary to uphold the rule of law and restore public confidence in central enforcement agencies. The issue is likely to trigger sharp political reactions at both the state and national levels.
