Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Lottery’s Christmas–New Year Bumper has created history with record-breaking sales crossing the 50 lakh mark. As of yesterday afternoon, 51,66,810 tickets had already been sold, surpassing last year’s total sales of 47,65,650 tickets.
The overwhelming public response to the bumper lottery, which offers a ₹20 crore first prize, prompted the Lottery Department to release an additional 5 lakh tickets into the market to meet rising demand.
Palakkad district emerged as the top performer in ticket sales, with 12,20,520 tickets sold so far. Thrissur secured the second position with 5,44,340 tickets, followed closely by Thiruvananthapuram in third place with 5,15,090 tickets sold. Kollam moved up to fourth position by selling 3,34,910 tickets, overtaking Ernakulam, while Kannur stood fifth with 3,11,780 tickets sold.
The bumper lottery offers an attractive prize structure. Apart from the ₹20 crore first prize, 20 winners will receive ₹1 crore each as second prize, while 20 winners will get ₹10 lakh each as third prize. The fourth prize carries ₹3 lakh each for 20 winners, and the fifth prize offers ₹2 lakh each for another 20 winners.
In addition, consolation prizes of ₹1 lakh each will be awarded to the nine series that do not win the bumper prize. Smaller prizes of ₹5,000, ₹2,000, ₹1,000, ₹500 and ₹400 are also included. In total, 6,21,990 prizes will be distributed across 10 series.
The much-awaited draw will be held on December 24 at 2 pm, adding to the festive excitement across the state.
