Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday held a high-level meeting to review preparedness in the agriculture sector amid global uncertainties. He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of fertilizers and speed up the implementation of Farmer ID to improve transparency in distribution.
The minister also ordered strict action against black marketing and hoarding of fertilizers and seeds, asking states to take strong measures. Officials reviewed the availability of agro-chemicals and materials needed for seed processing and packaging. Chouhan stressed that there should be no shortage of essential supplies.
A special monitoring cell has been set up to track the availability of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides and submit regular reports. The government said it is committed to ensuring farmers get all necessary support ahead of the Kharif season.
