The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has unveiled a groundbreaking reform in its examination structure, introducing biannual Class 10 board exams from the 2026 academic year. This initiative aims to ease student stress and offer multiple opportunities for academic success. Under the new system, students can appear for board exams in two sessions—tentatively in February and May—choosing either or both, with the best score considered for final certification. Aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this move promotes a more flexible, student-centric evaluation system, shifting away from high-stakes, single-exam pressure. CBSE has also invited public feedback on the proposal until March 9, 2025, ensuring a consultative approach before finalizing implementation. The dual-exam system is set to commence in the 2026-27 academic session, with detailed guidelines to be released beforehand, allowing schools and students sufficient time to adapt. This significant reform marks a shift toward a more holistic education framework, reinforcing CBSE’s commitment to student welfare and academic excellence.
