BLM Slaps ₹10.25 Crore Lawsuit on Marunadan Malayali for Defamation After Fresh Fake News Allegations

Thrissur: In a major legal escalation, the Bharat Lajna Multi-State Housing Co-operative Society Ltd. (BLM) has filed a ₹10.25 crore defamation suit against the YouTube channel Marunadan Malayali, accusing it of persistently spreading fabricated and defamatory news.

The action follows a recent video by the channel that linked BLM to the attack on Sunil, the operator of Ragam Theatre in Thrissur—a claim BLM asserts is completely baseless and malicious.

The legal notice, issued through High Court advocate Adv. Luke Chirayil, highlights that a court order already restrains Marunadan Malayali from publishing fake news against BLM. Yet, the channel allegedly violated this directive with another misleading broadcast.

BLM further alleges that Marunadan Malayali and its editor Shajan Scaria have been running a continuous campaign to tarnish the reputation of the organization, which serves more than 30 lakh customers nationwide.

The controversial video, titled “Quotation for Ragam Theatre Owner: Will the Good Men’s Masks Fall Off?”, reportedly presented unverified accusations and illegally used BLM’s logo and images of its leader, Prem Kumar.

BLM has demanded a public apology, ₹10 crore in damages, and an additional ₹25 lakh to cover legal expenses.
