New Delhi: BJP president Nitin Nabin has been provided Z-category security cover by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following instructions from the Union Home Ministry, officials said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the decision was taken a few weeks ago after Nitin Nabin was announced as the new party president. In view of his elevated political profile and a fresh security assessment, the Home Ministry directed the CRPF to take over his security arrangements.
Under the Z-level security cover, Nabin will be protected round-the-clock by a team of armed CRPF personnel, including close-protection officers, escorts, and security cover at his residence and during public engagements.
Officials said the security cover will be periodically reviewed based on threat perception and intelligence inputs. The move underscores the Centre’s emphasis on ensuring adequate protection for senior political leaders amid changing security dynamics.
