Bengaluru: In a move coming after seven years, Bengaluru Metro has raised its ticket prices, setting the minimum fare at Rs 15. The new fare structure, effective from November 1, now ranges from Rs 15 to Rs 60 based on travel distance.
Previously, commuters enjoyed a minimum fare of Rs 10, but the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) decided on this increase to offset rising operational costs and ensure sustainable revenue. According to officials, the fare adjustment is essential to maintain smooth operations and meet growing financial demands.
Monthly passes and other travel options will also see updated pricing, reflecting the new fare structure. Authorities will be observing the effect on commuter turnout and how passengers respond to the fare adjustments.
