The long wait is finally over for Malayalis in Bengaluru! The brand-new Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express is all set to hit the tracks, promising a faster and smoother journey between Kerala and Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the train from Varanasi at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, marking another milestone in India’s high-speed rail expansion. The public can start travelling on the new service from Sunday onwards.
Covering a distance of 630 kilometres in just eight hours, the new Vande Bharat will slash travel time by nearly four hours compared to existing trains — a game changer for regular commuters and weekend travellers alike.
According to the official schedule, the train will depart Bengaluru at 5:00 a.m. and arrive in Ernakulam at 1:50 p.m. The return service will leave Ernakulam at 2:20 p.m. and reach Bengaluru by 11:00 p.m. Key stops include Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, and Krishnarajapuram. The train will not operate on Wednesdays.
With its sleek design, modern comforts, and reduced travel time, the Vande Bharat Express is poised to redefine intercity travel between Kerala and Karnataka — turning an exhausting overnight trip into a convenient, same-day journey.
