“Bengal’s Progress Needs Change”: PM Modi Calls for Trinamool Congress Ouster

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), asserting that West Bengal’s development depends on removing the party from power. Saying that India’s younger generation believes in the BJP’s development model, Modi urged voters to bring change in the Assembly elections scheduled in the state later this year.

Citing the BJP’s recent victory in Maharashtra’s municipal elections, the Prime Minister said it reflected growing public trust in the party’s governance approach. PM accused the West Bengal government of lacking compassion and alleged that central funds meant for development and welfare were being misused due to widespread corruption.

Modi said every poor family in Bengal deserves a permanent house, free ration for eligible beneficiaries, and access to central welfare schemes. However, PM claimed these benefits are not reaching the people because of corruption at the state level. PM further alleged that TMC leaders were siphoning off funds meant for the poor, calling the Trinamool government an “enemy of the people of Bengal.”

The Prime Minister also accused the state government of blocking central health initiatives, pointing out that West Bengal is the only state yet to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme. PM said the TMC was denying the poor access to vital healthcare benefits and declared that the time had come to bid farewell to what he described as a “heartless government.”

Invoking the blessings of the river Ganga, Modi said a “river of development” would soon flow through Bengal under BJP rule. Referring to BJP’s electoral successes in Odisha, Tripura, Assam, and Bihar, PM said the party had freed several eastern states from divisive politics and promised to do the same in Bengal, while also calling for the state to be freed from illegal infiltration.
