Avalanche at Zojila Pass Leaves Six Dead, Five Injured

At least six people lost their lives and five others were injured after an avalanche hit the Zojila Pass area on the Srinagar–Leh highway. The avalanche struck a stretch known for heavy snowfall and frequent weather-related risks. Several vehicles were caught in the incident, leaving passengers trapped.

Rescue teams were deployed immediately. Efforts are underway to evacuate the injured and clear the affected area. The incident has disrupted traffic on the strategic highway connecting Kashmir and Ladakh. Authorities have temporarily halted movement on the route. Officials said rescue operations are continuing as weather conditions remain challenging.
