AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that Amaravati’s status as the State capital has received widespread national support, while accusing the opposition of attempting to undermine the project.
Addressing a press conference, Naidu alleged that the YSR Congress Party had tried to derail the development of Amaravati but asserted that the government had taken legislative measures to safeguard its position.
He further stated that the capital city has now secured the backing of the Centre, adding that its status cannot be altered in the future. “Despite conspiracies, Amaravati has emerged strong, with support from across the country,” the Chief Minister said, reiterating his government’s commitment to developing the capital region.
The remarks come amid ongoing political differences between the ruling government and the opposition over the issue of the State capital.
