Amaravati Back in Spotlight: PM Modi Relaunches Capital Development Projects After 6-Year Hiatus

After years of political uncertainty and stalled development, Amaravati is once again at the heart of Andhra Pradesh’s capital dreams. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a visit to the state, has relaunched key infrastructure projects in Amaravati, signaling a renewed push toward its development as the capital city.

The relaunch marks a revival of the capital’s ambitions after a 6-year pause, during which the state’s capital plans shifted under different governments. Amaravati was originally envisioned as a grand capital following the 2014 bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, which led to the creation of Telangana and the loss of Hyderabad to the new state.

During the recent event, PM Modi emphasized the Centre’s commitment to building Amaravati as a modern, world-class capital. Several projects related to administration, infrastructure, and public amenities have been re-initiated. This includes government complexes, road networks, and green city components that were left incomplete due to political roadblocks and funding issues.

The renewed focus on Amaravati is being seen as a strategic move ahead of the upcoming elections, reflecting both development priorities and political messaging. With central backing now more visible, stakeholders and residents hope this marks a definitive step forward for the stalled capital dream.
