Alappuzha Declares Public Holiday Tomorrow to Honour V. S. Achuthanandan; PSC Exams Postponed

Alappuzha: As a mark of respect to the late former Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan, a public holiday has been declared in Alappuzha district tomorrow (Wednesday, July 23, 2025). All government offices and educational institutions, including professional colleges, will remain closed.

V. S. Achuthanandan’s funeral will take place tomorrow evening at Valiya Chudukadu in Alappuzha with full state honours. After the public homage in Thiruvananthapuram concludes tonight, his mortal remains will be brought to his residence at Punnapra Paravoor.

Tomorrow at 9 AM, the body will be placed at the CPM District Committee Office for public viewing, followed by another viewing at the Alappuzha Police Recreation Ground from 10 AM. The funeral ceremony is scheduled for 3 PM.

The Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) has also announced the postponement of all examinations scheduled for July 23 in Alappuzha district. The new dates will be announced later. However, PSC interviews scheduled for tomorrow will be held as planned.
