AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday announced a series of welfare promises ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
He said that if the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) returns to power, free refrigerators will be given to all rice ration cardholders in the state.
In addition, he promised that eligible families would receive one kilogram of dal and one litre of cooking oil free of cost.
Palaniswami said these schemes are aimed at supporting low-income households and reducing their daily expenses.
The announcement follows the party’s earlier welfare initiatives under former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who had introduced popular schemes such as free fans, mixies, and grinders during the 2011 Assembly elections.
With these promises, the AIADMK has begun outlining its campaign strategy for the upcoming elections.
