New Delhi: In the wake of the devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad that has claimed 294 lives, the Central Government has launched a high-level multi-disciplinary probe to uncover the cause and ensure such a disaster never recurs.
A committee led by the Union Home Secretary will investigate all possible angles—ranging from technical failures and human error to weather conditions and regulatory lapses. The panel includes senior officials from both Central and State governments and is expected to submit its report within three months.
Key evidence, including the flight data recorder, cockpit voice recordings, aircraft maintenance history, ATC logs, and eyewitness testimonies, will be thoroughly examined.
Tragically, many of the victims were residents of a nearby building impacted by the crash. Twenty-four students from a nearby hostel are receiving treatment in hospitals. Only six bodies have been officially identified and handed over to families, with the rest awaiting confirmation through DNA analysis.
The government’s swift action signals its commitment to accountability, transparency, and air safety in the wake of one of India’s deadliest aviation tragedies.
