Kochi: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko appeared before the Kochi City Police on Saturday in connection with the recent hotel drug raid incident that stirred headlines across Kerala. The actor, who had allegedly fled the hotel room during a surprise inspection by the DANSAF (District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force) team on Wednesday night, was summoned to explain his actions.
Shine arrived at the Ernakulam North Police Station at 10:00 AM, accompanied by his legal team—half an hour earlier than the scheduled time mentioned in the police notice.
According to police sources, a detailed questionnaire consisting of over 30 questions has been prepared for the interrogation. The primary focus of the questioning is to understand why the actor fled the hotel room when the anti-narcotics team arrived.
Although Shine’s sudden exit raised suspicions, the police later clarified that no narcotic substances were found in the hotel room during the raid. As part of the investigation, officers have also reportedly examined Shine’s phone call records from the past month and reviewed CCTV footage from six hotels where he stayed recently.
The questioning is being conducted under the supervision of the Central ACP. Shine was issued a formal notice at his Thrissur residence earlier this week, asking him to appear before the police.
This development adds another layer to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding drug use in the Malayalam film industry, with law enforcement agencies stepping up efforts to curb drug-related activities.
