New Delhi: In a bid to ensure greater transparency and accountability, the Airline Pilots’ Association (ALPA)-India has urged for observer status in the ongoing investigation into the AI 171 crash.
A delegation from the pilots’ welfare body met senior officials of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday to press their demand.
ALPA-India President Captain Sam Thomas said after the meeting that the agencies have assured the group of quarterly meetings to share feedback, track developments, and enhance safety oversight.
The association stressed that direct participation of pilots in the probe would not only raise safety standards but also boost public confidence in aviation investigations.
