PM Modi Marks 11 Years of ‘Make in India’, Highlights Economic Growth and Self-Reliance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25, 2025, celebrated the 11th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, reflecting on its transformative impact on India’s economy and entrepreneurial landscape. In a social media post, he said the initiative has strengthened economic growth, fostered innovation, and created jobs across sectors, while laying the foundation for Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

Launched in 2014, ‘Make in India’ aimed to turn India into a global manufacturing hub by attracting domestic and foreign investment, building world-class infrastructure, and encouraging innovation. Over the past decade, the initiative has achieved major milestones, including ₹1.76 lakh crore in PLI-driven investments, a 132-fold surge in mobile phone exports, an eight-fold increase in electronics exports, and domestic production of 65% of India’s defense equipment, with exports reaching over 100 countries.

At the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, PM Modi emphasized the vision of producing everything from “chips to ships” within India. He also highlighted efforts to simplify business processes, noting that over 40,000 compliances have been eliminated and hundreds of rules decriminalized to improve the ease of doing business.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the Make in India initiative continues to drive innovation, enhance manufacturing capabilities, and generate employment, reinforcing India’s position as a global economic powerhouse.
