Thiruvananthapuram: Schools across Kerala will close tomorrow as festive Onam celebrations kick off, with classes set to resume on September 8 after the holiday stretch.
Education Minister V. Sivankutty dismissed rumours of a government move to shorten the vacation, calling them false and misleading. He confirmed that Onam examinations are already complete and that results will be announced within a week of reopening.
To support academic performance, students from Classes 5 to 9 scoring below 30% in any subject will attend two weeks of special remedial sessions next month.
Additionally, teachers will undergo three-tier counseling training aimed at boosting students’ mental well-being and curbing the spread of drug abuse among schoolchildren.
