Kerala Braces for Heavy Rains: Yellow Alert in Six Districts, Fishermen Warned

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a yellow alert across six districts of Kerala – Thrissur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur, Wayanad, and Kasaragod – as heavy rains are set to lash the state today and tomorrow.

Isolated heavy showers are expected in the alert zones, with rainfall intensity likely to ease only by Saturday.

Adding to the concern, the IMD has cautioned about strong winds reaching 40–65 kmph. The central-eastern and southwest Arabian Sea may witness gusts of up to 65 kmph, while the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal could experience winds of 40–60 kmph, creating rough sea conditions.

With dangerous weather brewing over the seas, fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture out until conditions improve.
