The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram, has partnered with the Kerala Police to develop AI-based tools for crime monitoring and analysis. Leveraging decades of digital crime data, including FIRs and intelligence records, the initiative aims to introduce predictive policing, pattern recognition, and suspect tracking through advanced artificial intelligence. As part of this collaboration, select police personnel are already being trained in AI and data analytics to effectively harness the new technology. Simultaneously, IISER has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASAP Kerala, a state-run skill development program, to build a strong local talent pool in data science and analytics. This dual initiative not only enhances law enforcement capabilities but also strengthens Kerala’s commitment to creating a tech-savvy, future-ready workforce, making it a frontrunner in public safety innovation and digital skill development.
