Sabarimala Sees Massive Influx of Devotees: Over 3.5 Lakh Pilgrims in 18 Days, Temple to Close Tonight

Pathanamthitta: Sabarimala witnessed a remarkable spiritual gathering, with over 3.5 lakh pilgrims visiting the hill shrine over the past 18 days for the Painkuni Uthram festival, Vishu celebrations, and Meda month poojas. The temple is set to close tonight (Friday) at 10 PM, marking the end of the season.

April 14, Vishu day, saw the highest turnout, with nearly 46,645 devotees seeking darshan. The temple had opened on April 1, with the ceremonial kodiyettam (flag hoisting) held the following day.

To ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience, authorities implemented virtual queue systems and spot booking facilities at Pampa. Despite the overwhelming turnout, the entire season concluded without a single complaint, thanks to efficient crowd management, said Travancore Devaswom Board President P.S. Prasanth.
