Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 champions the vision of teaching young children in their mother tongue. He described this initiative as a step towards promoting justice, inclusivity, and cultural preservation in education. The NEP encourages innovative methods and resources to ensure quality education while strengthening linguistic and cultural identity among students.
This policy aims to improve foundational learning by enabling children to learn in a language they understand best, enhancing comprehension and cognitive development. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also noted that NEP’s focus on regional languages supports the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047 and reflects a broader effort to provide equitable access to education across the country.
