Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a new garment manufacturing facility of Arvind Limited in Varanasi, officials said.
During the visit, Modi interacted with women workers at the facility. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied him.
According to an official statement, the facility will adopt modern manufacturing practices and generate employment opportunities, particularly for women, while boosting the region’s economic growth.
With access to international customers, the unit is expected to help take garments manufactured in Varanasi to global markets. The women-led initiative also reflects the government’s emphasis on women-led development.
