Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday launched the nationwide ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’, urging farmers to reduce the excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides to protect soil health and human well-being.
The awareness campaign will run from October 22 to November 30, 2026, with activities planned in villages across the country. Chouhan also praised Haryana farmers for promoting modern and natural farming practices.
As Rural Development Minister, he announced ₹1,343.06 crore in assistance to construct 28,422 permanent houses for poor families in Haryana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin.
