New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian athletes and teams for their impressive performances at the Asian Games, including several gold and bronze medal victories across hockey, wrestling, boxing, sepaktakraw and sailing.
Modi congratulated the Indian women’s hockey team on winning the gold medal after more than four decades. He credited the team’s success to their skill, teamwork and determination, and expressed hope that the achievement would further boost the popularity of hockey in the country.
He also congratulated Sujeet for winning gold in the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling event. The victory marked India’s first wrestling gold of the Games and came on Sujeet’s Asian Games debut.
In boxing, Modi congratulated Ankush for winning gold in the men’s 80kg category and Parveen for securing gold in the women’s 65kg event. He praised their dedication and said their performances added to India’s success in boxing.
Modi also congratulated Lovlina Borgohain on winning gold in the women’s 75kg boxing event after a 5-0 victory in the final. He said her sporting journey reflected determination and excellence.
The Prime Minister congratulated the Indian men’s quadrant sepaktakraw team for securing bronze, India’s first-ever medal in the men’s quadrant event at the Asian Games. He praised the team’s fighting spirit and expressed hope that the achievement would give further momentum to the sport in India.
He also extended his congratulations to Nethra Kumanan for winning bronze in the women’s dinghy event and wished her continued success in her sporting career.
