New Delhi: The BJP on Monday stepped up its attack on the Congress over alleged irregularities in a 2016 recruitment examination for panchayat development officers in Uttarakhand, demanding answers from senior party leader Rahul Gandhi.
The BJP’s criticism came days after the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids on the premises of a former special officer on duty (OSD) to ex-Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat in connection with a money laundering probe linked to the alleged recruitment scam.
The agency reportedly seized Rs 32 lakh in cash and valuables during the searches.
Addressing the issue, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the recovery of cash and valuables from the premises was only one aspect of the matter. He accused the Congress of betraying students and demanded accountability over the alleged irregularities in the examination conducted by the Uttarakhand state recruitment commission.
