Gujarat shifts focus to AI, semiconductors and green energy for future growth

Mumbai: Gujarat is expanding its economic focus beyond traditional industries, with the state government placing greater emphasis on emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green hydrogen and renewable energy, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on Thursday.

Addressing an event in Mumbai ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat 2027 summit, Patel said new-age industries would play a key role in shaping the state’s next phase of development.

He said sectors including semiconductors, AI, data centres, green hydrogen, renewable energy, aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing were emerging as important pillars of Gujarat’s future-oriented economic strategy.

The chief minister highlighted the state’s efforts to attract investment and strengthen its industrial ecosystem by creating opportunities in high-technology and knowledge-driven sectors.

Patel said Gujarat’s development strategy was evolving in response to changing global economic and technological trends, with a focus on building capabilities in industries expected to drive growth in the coming years.

The upcoming Vibrant Gujarat 2027 summit is expected to provide a platform for the state to showcase its investment opportunities and deepen partnerships across these emerging sectors.
