Astronauts Remove Faulty ISS Antenna During Spacewalk, Replacement Deferred

Washington: Astronauts Anil Menon and Sophie Adenot successfully removed a faulty space-to-ground antenna from the International Space Station (ISS) during a spacewalk, but ran out of time to install its replacement.

The astronauts completed the removal and safely stowed the failed antenna during their six-hour and 23-minute spacewalk, which began at 8:29 a.m. The installation of the spare antenna has been deferred to a future spacewalk.

The spacewalk marked the second for Anil Menon, whose family has roots in Kerala, India, and the first for Sophie Adenot.The mission was part of ongoing maintenance and repair activities aboard the ISS to ensure the station’s communication systems remain operational.
