Chief Election Commissioner of India and Chairman of the Council of Member States of International IDEA, Gyanesh Kumar, on Tuesday met Thailand’s Ambassador to India, Chavanart Thangsumphant, at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening democratic cooperation in line with the vision outlined at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) Conference on Democracy (IICDEM) 2026.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in election management and the training of election officials. India and Thailand agreed to work closely to enhance collaboration through the exchange of expertise, best practices and institutional knowledge in the conduct of elections.
The meeting underscored the commitment of both countries to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering closer cooperation in the field of electoral administration.
