Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam on Thursday inaugurated the reopening of the Border Haat at Pangsau Pass along the India-Myanmar border in Changlang district, marking the resumption of cross-border trade after a six-year gap.
The Border Haat, located at Nampong near the historic Pangsau Pass, is expected to boost trade and strengthen economic ties between border communities of India and Myanmar.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dukam highlighted the importance of commercial activities in promoting local economic growth. He called on traders, local communities, and administrative authorities to work together to transform the Border Haat into a vibrant and sustainable centre for cross-border commerce.
According to an official statement, the revival of the Border Haat is expected to improve livelihood opportunities, encourage legal trade, and enhance people-to-people connections in the border region. The initiative is also seen as a significant step toward strengthening regional economic cooperation and supporting the development of Arunachal Pradesh’s frontier areas.
