Thiruvananthapuram: The mortal remains of a Kerala couple who lost their lives in the tragic boat accident in Vietnam arrived at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Tuesday morning.
The bodies of A.C. Thomas (57) and his wife Loveni Thomas (56), natives of Kottarakkara in Kollam district, were received at the airport before being taken through official formalities.
After the completion of documentation and other procedures, the bodies will be transported by ambulance to their hometown in Kottarakkara for the final rites.
Emotional scenes unfolded at the airport’s cargo terminal as grief-stricken family members gathered to receive the coffins. Relatives, with tears in their eyes, paid their respects while officials completed the process of handing over the mortal remains.
The couple were among the victims of the July 11 speedboat tragedy near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, which claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists during an island-hopping excursion.
