New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated the Jayaprakash Narayan Library in New Delhi, highlighting the importance of libraries in shaping an informed and progressive society.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman Keshav Chandra and several other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah said the future of a nation is not measured by the size of its markets or the number of industries, but by the number of young people studying in its libraries.
He emphasised that knowledge and wisdom form the foundation of nation-building, development and prosperity, adding that libraries play a vital role in nurturing these values. According to Shah, libraries remain essential institutions for imparting knowledge and encouraging learning among the younger generation.
The newly inaugurated Jayaprakash Narayan Library is expected to serve as an important centre for reading, research and intellectual development in the national capital.
