Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India has made significant progress over the last 12 years in ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare for all. He noted that the country takes pride in running the world’s largest healthcare programme, Ayushman Bharat, which provides quality medical treatment to economically vulnerable sections of society.
Highlighting key reforms in the health sector, the Prime Minister said initiatives such as PM Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana have helped make medicines available at lower prices. He added that government intervention has also reduced the cost of life-saving medical devices, including cardiac stents and knee implants, bringing relief to millions of patients.
Modi further pointed out that medical education has become more accessible with the establishment of new institutions and an increase in the number of seats. Sharing a glimpse of the transformation in the health sector, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and continuing efforts to build a healthier India.
