Nipah Alert Issued in Kozhikode Following Confirmed Case

KOZHIKODE: The Kerala government has issued a high alert in Kozhikode district following the confirmation of a Nipah virus infection. High-level review meetings will be held on Thursday in Thiruvananthapuram under the leadership of the Health Minister and in Kozhikode in the presence of the District Collector to assess the situation and coordinate response measures.

The infected patient is currently undergoing treatment on ventilator support at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Health authorities have directed individuals included in the patient’s contact list to enter quarantine as a precautionary measure.

Strict restrictions have also been imposed at Kozhikode Medical College after the patient was shifted there for specialized treatment. Surveillance and containment measures have been intensified to prevent any further spread of the virus.

The Health Department has, however, urged the public not to panic, stating that the situation is under control and that all necessary preventive measures are being implemented.
