In a move aimed at enhancing the safety and security of tourists and pilgrims during the Amarnath Yatra 2026, Anantnag Police in Jammu and Kashmir has launched the ‘Pahchan App’, a QR code-based mobile application for the registration and verification of service providers operating along the pilgrimage route and at major tourist destinations.
According to a police statement, the app allows instant on-the-spot verification of service providers through QR codes, helping authorities distinguish registered and verified individuals from unregistered ones.Police said the initiative is intended to create a secure environment for pilgrims and visitors while ensuring better monitoring of those offering services during the Yatra.
Officials believe the digital verification system will improve transparency, enhance security measures, and contribute to the smooth conduct of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
The primary objective of the app is to strengthen the overall security network during the pilgrimage season and prevent unverified or anti-social elements from entering the Yatra route under the guise of service providers.
