
Gold prices recorded a sharp increase in Kerala on Tuesday, pushing the price of one sovereign (8 grams) of 916 gold to Rs 1,12,920. The rate went up by Rs 50 per gram compared to the previous day’s prices.
According to the latest market rates released on May 12, 2026, one gram of 916 gold is now priced at Rs 14,115. The price of 18-carat gold also witnessed an increase, with one gram costing Rs 11,655 and eight grams priced at Rs 93,240.
Silver prices too moved upward in the market. One gram of silver is currently priced at Rs 290, while eight grams cost Rs 2,320.
Jewellery traders attributed the hike to changes in international market trends and rising demand for precious metals.
