SRINAGAR: A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district on Tuesday, disrupting traffic movement.
Officials said the landslide occurred in the Mehar area, leading to a complete halt of vehicles on both sides of the highway. Authorities quickly launched restoration work to clear the debris and reopen the route.
Police have advised commuters to avoid travelling on the highway until the road is cleared and weather conditions improve. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is a crucial link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, and disruptions often affect the movement of essential supplies. Officials said efforts are underway to restore traffic at the earliest.
