A brief period of tension was reported in Kuraoli town of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh following a disagreement over the venue for offering Eid namaz. The situation was later brought under control after timely intervention by local authorities, officials said on Monday.
The issue arose on March 21 when a group of people proposed conducting the namaz at a raised platform (chabutra) located in a field across the road from the Idgah, stating that prayers had been held there previously.
However, another section of the Muslim community opposed the move, insisting that the namaz should take place within the Idgah premises, in line with established practice.
Officials intervened to defuse the situation and ensure that peace was maintained in the area.
