Gold Prices Surge Again; Rate Climbs Above ₹1.15 Lakh Per Sovereign

Kochi: Gold prices in the state have witnessed a sharp surge once again, climbing above ₹1.15 lakh per sovereign. In a single day, the price jumped by ₹1,920, taking the rate of one sovereign (8 grams) to ₹1,15,680. The price per gram also increased by ₹240, reaching ₹14,460.

The rise comes just a day after gold prices had dropped by ₹2,400 in two phases, continuing a downward trend seen on Thursday as well. However, the market has now reversed direction with a strong upward movement. The all-time record price of ₹1,31,160 per sovereign was recorded on January 29, while December 23 marked the first time gold prices crossed the ₹1 lakh milestone. Traders attribute the ongoing fluctuations to changes in the global market, indicating that volatility in gold prices may continue in the coming days.
