Rahul Mamkootathil Gets Bail in Third Rape Case; High Court to Hear Anticipatory Bail Plea Today

Rahul Mamkootathil, who has been in judicial custody in connection with a third rape case, has been granted bail by the Pathanamthitta Sessions Court. The court allowed his bail plea after earlier expressing doubts over the authenticity of the digital evidence submitted in the case.

During the hearing, the defence argued that the relationship between the accused and the complainant was consensual. Rahul has been in jail for more than two weeks in connection with this case.

Meanwhile, the legal battle is far from over for the MLA. The Kerala High Court will today once again take up his anticipatory bail plea in the first rape case registered against him. The matter will be heard in detail by a bench led by Justice Kauser Edappagath.

The prosecution has strongly opposed the anticipatory bail plea and has already submitted its report to the court. The survivor has also filed an affidavit, alleging that Rahul is a habitual offender and warning that granting anticipatory bail could hamper and derail the investigation.
