Gold Breaks All Records in Kerala: Price Jumps ₹2,360 in a Day, Crosses ₹1.20 Lakh Mark

Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala have hit a stunning new high, continuing their record-shattering surge in the state. In a single day, the price of gold jumped by ₹2,360 per sovereign (8 grams), pushing the rate beyond the ₹1.20 lakh milestone to ₹1,21,120.

The sharp rally also saw prices rise by ₹295 per gram, taking the cost of one gram of gold to ₹15,140. After remaining unchanged the previous day—a rare pause in recent weeks—today’s spike revised Monday’s price of ₹1,19,320 per sovereign.

Gold in Kerala first crossed the ₹1 lakh mark on December 23, and since then, the upward momentum has shown no signs of slowing. International market trends continue to play a decisive role in driving domestic prices, with global economic and geopolitical uncertainty pushing investors towards gold as a safe-haven asset.

Fresh volatility in global markets has been triggered by US President Donald Trump’s announcement of higher tariffs on products from European countries opposing American views on Greenland’s control, along with reports of possible US military action against Iran. Against this backdrop of uncertainty, increased investor demand for gold is keeping prices at historic highs.
