Women’s rights activist Mary Roy passes away

Mary Roy, an educator and well-known advocate for women’s rights, died at the age of 86. The Supreme Court’s decision that females had equal rights to inheritance under the Christian Succession Act was made possible because to Mary Roy, the founder of the renowned Pallikkutam School in Kottayam.

Kottayam’s Pallikkutam School was founded with a broad approach to education. The school established free artistic expression and free artistic activities. The late Rajeeb Roy was the wife. Lalit and Arundhati Roy are the offspring of renowned author and Booker Prize winner, Roy.

The funeral rituals will be performed tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Kalathipadi home that is connected to Pallikkutam School. Home open to the public from 3 p.m. today until 10 a.m. tomorrow. Mary Roy requested that funeral rites be held in secret, therefore that will happen.
