Tuesday saw the death in the hospital of a young person who nearly perished at Canoli Canal, close to Karikodi.
The 26-year-old Nidin (Appu), a native of Desamangalam, was the son of Charulatha and the late Ammath Unnikrishnan.
Nidin and his companions were bathing in the canal on Monday night when the incident took place. The tragedy happened when Nidin went to Kandassankadavu to meet a buddy the day before his wedding.
Even though two of his friends saved him and took him to a private hospital in Olari, he was unable to survive.
