Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who is experiencing health issues, will be the subject of a decision at the state leadership meetings of the CPIM beginning today. The Secretariat and the State Committee will convene for two days in the company of General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and PB member Prakash Karat. The discussion will also cover how to confront the governor who is circling the wagons with the state legislature.
An urgent leadership meeting has been convened by CPI(M) to make crucial decisions about the organization’s political issues. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has notified the group that he is prepared to leave his position as secretary. The topic will be covered at the PB meeting that will take place in the morning. The secretariat will then decide after that. The state committee will make its final judgement this afternoon and tomorrow. The party opposes totally replacing Kodiyeri.
It is the stance that, if necessary, leave may be granted for a set period of time. Instead, the duty could be delegated to someone else to handle the party-related activities. M. A. Baby, A. Vijayaraghavan, and A. K. Balan and EP Jayarajan’s names are now being considered. To make important choices, General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and PB member Prakash Karat will meet.
Additionally, it is stated that if Kodiyeri leaves her position as secretary, there might be adjustments made to the administrative structure. The party finds the governor’s actions against the administration unpleasant. The assembly may also decide to advance the party’s open protest initiatives, which have so far solely included protest replies.
