The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presided over a high-level meeting where it was resolved to implement tough measures to reduce drug use and production. The consequences for engaging in such acts will be severe. The Narcotics Control Bureau’s study states that repeat offenders will be subject to preventative detention. The Chief Minister suggested creating a database of drug offenders using the same methodology used to create the Kappa Register.
There will be more thorough inspections at the borders and on trains arriving in Kerala from neighbouring states. Under the direction of police and excise, a specialised anti-drug campaign will be run throughout the state.
The battle against drug abuse will be set up as a well-liked camp. Numerous local organisations, including youth, women, Kudumbashree activists, clubs, libraries, resident associations, socio-cultural, and political groups will be involved in the campaign. This will be explained in detail.
