State School Art Festival History Exhibition: Kozhikode

The historical exposition on the main stage was made more visible at the State School Arts Festival. The display chronicles the turbulent past of 60 arts events from 1957. The first school arts festival was conducted in 1957 at Ernakulam Girls High School by C.S. Venkateswaran, the first director of education in the state to introduce the idea. North Malabar district won the inaugural championship, and other artists from other generations participated.

G. Anup, a Kozhikode native, spent an entire year and a half compiling the Kalotsava history. Additionally, he has written a book titled “Kalotsavamvandi” that spans 50 years of Kalotsava history. Images, instructions, and various official documents were useful for gathering data. There are also newspapers on exhibit from various years that were associated with Kalothsavam. This is the fifth time the exhibition has taken place at the State Arts Festival location under Anoop’s direction.
