Women who work for the central government who lose their babies in childbirth are eligible for a special maternity leave, according to the central government. A 60-day maternity leave is granted. The choice was made because the mother’s mental health has been impacted by the death of the child.
If a baby dies at birth or within the first 28 weeks of life, the mother is granted 60 days off. The Ministry of Personnel and Training issued the directive.
From the child’s death date forward, a leave of 60 days is applicable. Grant the benefit of special maternity leave only to female central government employees who have fewer than two children and give birth in an accredited hospital.
Government hospitals and private hospitals that are accredited by the central government’s health programme are included on the list of recognised hospitals.
