State government directive to assure reservation in the offering of a free connection in the K phone programme. It has been suggested to reserve 10% for Scheduled Castes and 3% for Scheduled Tribes.
At a rate of 100 BPL households per constituency, 14000 BPL households will be connected in the first phase. From the programme, 30,000 educational institutions will profit.
The state administration is proud of the K Phone project. The government has previously chosen to connect 100 BPL families in a district. 10% more will be provided to ST category if SC category is not available.
Additionally, the SC category of the same constituency will receive the extra three percent if there is no ST category. The constituency will be changed to a generic category if there are no two categories.
